Building a strong and diverse community

An estimated 2 in 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and ~1 in 4 will unfortunately die from the disease. We know it takes a community, and we are building ours to have the greatest impact for the greatest number of Canadians.

Key breakthroughs in cancer research are made possible by adopting new perspectives, so we’re working with the oncology community— from governments and healthcare providers to patient advocacy groups and industry partners to drive change forward for more cancer innovations and better access to care.

Funding the future of cancer care and research

Cancer can be a heavy burden, which affects all Canadians in one way or another. That is why we are committed to doing our part to support the communities we call home.

Better Care Program

Whether it’s about advancing scientific research, cultivating education within the medical community, or improving healthcare systems, our Merck Better Care, Healthy Communities Funding Program is here to help.

Our mission goes beyond corporate responsibility– it’s about supporting the health, safety, well-being, and sustainability of our communities at large.

To further support healthcare in Canada, we also provide funding to support organizations involved in educational, healthcare, scientific, or other medical activities.

Building a legacy of trusted research and know-how

Over many decades, Merck has pursued acquisitions, collaborations, and licensing agreements to build the world’s largest oncology research program.
