Marwan A. Akar
Marwan’s experience is extensively diverse, both geographically and professionally. His life and career took him to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, U.S., and Canada. His journey at Merck took him from his start as an engineer in Vaccines Process Development, to Business Development & Alliance Management, and thereafter to Managing Director in Egypt, Russia, and now in Canada since September 2021.
Marwan’s experience at Merck over the past 25 years, exposed him to the pivotal role innovative pharmaceuticals & biologics play in saving & improving lives, and the importance of making these innovations accessible to the patients that need them and would benefit from them. It is this mission of “access to innovation” that drives Marwan and makes him so passionate about his work.
To balance a high paced and ever-changing work environment, Marwan finds peace and calm in early morning runs and sunny travel destinations.
