André Galarneau
Deeply interested by science and its potential for finding solutions to help people, André Galarneau chose a challenging academic path that led him to earning a B.A. and Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Université de Montréal, and then a Doctorate in Experimental Medicine at McGill University.
Presented with the opportunity to continue doing scientific research in a biotech setting, André decided to leave academia and worked as a research scientist specializing in Alzheimer’s Disease. Always in need of a challenge, André then moved to Merck, hoping for a multifaceted learning experience. Fifteen years later, his career path certainly demonstrates that experience: he’s worked in multiple therapeutical areas and within them occupied a variety of roles in medical affairs, marketing, and sales, just to name a few. André is currently the Executive Director for Oncology and as such leads a team of consummate professionals dedicated to improving the lives of Canadians living with cancer.
André loves challenges at work but in his free time as well. A father of three, he’s also an avid chess player and cyclist and, after many years spent on baseball fields as a player, he now spends time coaching the next generation.
