Gretty Deutsch
Gretty Deutsch is a proven leader in the pharmaceutical industry with over 20 years of experience. She holds a MD from the University of Bucharest and spent 13 years on the frontlines of the AIDS crisis working at the Montreal General Hospital’s Immune Deficiency Treatment Center. During this time, she worked in medical research alongside other medical professionals to develop new treatments and therapies for patients with AIDS. Before joining Merck 5 years ago, Gretty held many positions at Novartis, most notably serving as the Medical Director for Immunology & Dermatology for Region Latin America & Canada. She is currently the Country Medical Director and VP of Medical Affairs at Merck Canada.
In her current role, Gretty spearheaded Merck Canada’s Medical Affairs’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She strongly believes that the lessons we’ve learned during these times will help speed up the process of discovering, testing, and bringing new medicines to Canadian patients. It will also encourage the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries to work more closely together to advance medical innovations and capabilities.
Gretty is an avid reader and encourages her team to learn about leadership development as part of a book club. Outside of work, she enjoys watching documentaries and films and, above all, spending time with her family.
