Cyril Schiever

Mr. Schiever began his pharmaceutical career in France, where he joined Sanofi in 1991 and, over a span of eight years, held positions of increased responsibility in Morocco and in the United Kingdom. In 1999, he joined Schering-Plough as Finance Director in Greece and, starting in 2001, consecutively held General Manager positions overseeing operations in the Gulf and East Africa, the Czech and Slovak Republics, and Greece. Most recently, Mr. Schiever was Managing Director in Greece, Cyprus and Malta and, in 2009, he led the merger of Schering-Plough and Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) to form an effective and high-performance organisation. He was also an active member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Pharmaceutical Association and Vice-President of the Local American Working Group (LAWG) of PhRMA in Greece. Mr. Schiever is a member of the Canada's Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) Board of Directors. Mr. Schiever was appointed to his current position of President and Managing Director of Merck Canada in July 2011. In this role he is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the company with a focus on delivering innovative health solutions for Canadian patients. Throughout his accomplished 20-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Schiever acquired a broad international experience and valuable knowledge of the industry. His extensive involvement in mergers and transformational change in diverse cultural environments led him to successfully build several solid customer-focused organisations. Born in France, Mr. Schiever holds a Master of Business Administration as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Business / Marketing from the Université Paris IX-Dauphine, Paris, France. He is fluent in French, English and Greek. Mr. Schiever is married and has three children. He is also an avid sailor and windsurfer. |
